Researchers have recently discovered a specific chemical in red raspberries called raspberry ketone. Scientists proclaim that it might play a role in fat metabolism and weight loss.
Although it can be extracted from raspberries, the amount found in supplements used by people following the Keto diet comes from chemical synthesis. Raspberry ketones are also found in other fruits like kiwifruit, peaches, grapes, apples, other berries, rhubarb, yew bark, maple, and pine trees.
Some studies have suggested that raspberry ketones promote fat burning or prevent its production. This is allegedly done by blocking a protein called adiponectin that regulates blood sugar levels and other metabolic processes.
The most promising study on mice used a combination of caffeine, raspberry ketone, garlic, and capsaicin and was able to reduce body fat by up to 10%
It’s possible that raspberry ketones can help you lose weight but more research is needed to confirm this.
